Stories: SLOVENIA'S NATIONAL FLY FISHING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Slovenian National Fly Fishing Championship has been around for about ten years. It consists of five to six competitions all over the country. The competition time is divided into an hour and a half thirds, the competition track is divided into quarters. Teams and individuals compete to gather as much points by measuring a maximum of three fish in each sector. The size of the fish and a type of fish decide the winners. Then, after five competitions, points given for rankings in individual competitions, decide the overall final winner of the championship. However, the system is different from the International one, and 2011 was the year when Slovenian competitors demanded greater changes to the rules, simply to bring Slovenian sports fly fishing closer to that practiced in other European countries. With the rules as they are, they feel Slovenian competitors are less prepaired for international competitions as they would be if they competed on international terms all the time.
